July 18 澳洲 working visa!!!今日特別開心, 因為終於拿到澳洲的工作簽證!!!
 其實本身我可以直接申請skilled migration, 做埋移民既, 但係本來一心想著做幾年野之後都係會回香港, 便申請working visa 算了. 怎知一個小小的working visa, 也要等5個月, 所以如果你問我, 香港人始終都有其competitiveness!!不過, 來到澳洲後發現, 係度長住又唔錯bor, 因為呢度唔興OT, 就算OT都唔會到12點幾仲係office, 二來我發覺呢度做野人工一d都唔低, 都係要多謝美元的弱勢! 一個普通的初級IT人, 人工都可以去到AUD50000一年, 扣埋tax仲有hkd 廿幾萬落袋, 唔怪得好多IT人來了都唔捨得走. 不過, 到你係香港人工都高, 高到好似Jack Li 呢 d 係Morgan Stanley到做既時候, Sydney既人工就唔算高了...

唔.... 原來也不是什麼特別的地方....  April 04 Fields validations in ASP.NET 2.0Usually developers hate doing validation checkings(besides documentation), but this is actually one of the most important things for a system / web application to be useful.
Hopefully the following info will help you a bit:
1. If you want to make sure the users enters numbers and commas only into a number field, you need to use RegularExpressionValidators.
Yet the default expressions for you to use from VS 2005 is limited. So check the following site first and I am sure it will help you a lot! http://regexlib.com/DisplayPatterns.aspx 2. The Display property is often neglected by most developers and so after putting all the validators on the form/page it becomes too long to be displayed. It is because by default the Display property is set to "static", which space will pre-allocated in the page layout.
So, you need to multiple select all the validators, and change the Display property to "dynamic" and all of a sudden the page will become more compact! 3. Another useful property often missed by developers is the SetFocusOnError property. This property is new in ASP.NET 2.0. (Surprised!) The usage is self-explanary.

December 05 Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor (HK-SWC)Yesterday I went to the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor (HK-SWC) together with lots of Shaw Alumni.
It is situated in the Deep Bay waters, which has a very high ecological values. The bridge is still under-construction and the project is going to be completed next year. We walked on a temporary iron bridge, which is going to be removed soon, and get on a boat to tour around.
The experience is nice and hopefully I can go there again next year!
Hmm.... This is a significant step to improve the traffic network between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and it takes about 1 hour to travel from that point to Kowloon. I am already wondering if more and more people will consider the idea of relocating to China but still work in HK.

November 28 Bugs in VS 2005 RTM??!! (2)Just found another bug in VS 2005!!!
 The login page was working in beta version but not on released version. Normally you would got this error after publishing:
Error CS0030: Cannot convert type 'ASP.login_aspx' to 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.Login'

Here's my story. I have developed 20% of?a small web application?in VS 2005 beta2, recently I deployed it into the VS 2005 final release. And I found that all my gridview & detailview's date formats are lost!! Eg: <asp:BoundField DataField="Arrival Date" DataFormatString="{0:d}" /> Output: 10/31/2005 7:00:54 PM I managed to solve this by setting the property:?HtmlEncode to false <asp:BoundField DataField="Arrival Date" DataFormatString="{0:d}" HtmlEncode="false"/> Output: 10/31/2005 I am not sure why the Microsoft development teams changed this as it makes more sense to encode after data formatting has applied. 其實我在Malaysia的office裡, setup了的test system, 已經成功的接上seca scale和自己公司的 4008s dialysis machine; 這並不令我意外, 因為自己在這方面已可算是駕輕就熟了, 何況有問題還是可以各德國和澳洲的同事請教.
我和另一個同事在醫院裡試了很久, 還是無法連上Baxter的machine. 不過老實說, 現在失敗了, 反而覺得輕鬆了很多似的! 早在個多月前, 我已向同事表達我的憂慮, 也提出了應該盡早作出準備, 但他們好像認為很容易做似的, 現在我們必須想想如何善後...

同事告訴我, 他們多數是日頭在上班, 晚上賣唱來賺多個錢. 如果靄雲在我身邊, 不知她會說什麼呢?

這次到馬來西亞有別於頭兩次出差, 第一次到德國是因為去受訓, 所以簡直可以用享受人生來形容; 第二次去巴基斯坦的Lahore的project雖然對我來說也很有難度, 但因為已經在香港準備充足, 加上和富有經驗的Chris Leung(Techinical Manager in CAP department)同去, 多多少少感覺會好一點. 而這一敞, 由此至終腦內都只有一個問號...
我這次旅程是要代表公司到一間醫院(Serdang Hospital), setup一套系統(Finesse - Dialysis Monitoring & Managing System), 並連接至一台Seca Scale, 自己公司的Dialysis Machine和另一個Competitor--Baxter的machine.可笑的是, 事前不但我並未試過connect Baxter的machine, 我連它的manual, 和它自己的software的資料也沒有!!

September 09 Using ASP.NET 2.0 application services in SQL Server 2000 instead of SQL Server ExpressAs all of you may already know that in ASP.NET 2.0 we can use application services to simplify our development processes. Yet the default services are configured to SQL 2005 Express provider. Thus if you would like to use it on SQL Server 2000 Standard/Enterprise, or even SQL Server 2005, please follow the below steps:
1. Open a Visual Studio Command prompt by selecting Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 beta-> Visual Studio Tools->Visual Studio Command Prompt.
2. Type aspnet_regsql at the command prompt.
3. Follows the wizard but points to SQL Server 2000 instead.
The above steps will create a blank SQL database instance for the services, and the default name is "aspnetdb"
4. in your app's local web.config, modify it so it points to the SQL Server 2000.
